Friends,
We are super excited to announce that the sanctuary has an amazing opportunity to grow beyond our wildest expectations. By moving Rooster Sanctuary to Western North Carolina, we can rescue more birds, shelter a greater variety of farmed animals, and thus expand our vegan education. For us, the move to North Carolina would be a chance to grow as a sanctuary, allowing us, among other things, to shelter more roosters than we could at our Colorado location because, in the mild North Carolina climate, we could afford to build and maintain more housing facilities without the prohibitive costs of special constructions, heavy insulation, weather proofing against below zero temperatures, heating, and more. We have recently doubled the property footprint we own outright in Western North Carolina and plan on acquiring even more.
For the birds, it would simply be a chance to go HOME, a chance that, until recently, we didn’t dare hope we’d be able to provide, but that now we can't bear to deny them. We realize that no matter how loved and cared for the roosters have been here, and no matter how bravely they've embraced everything the arid Colorado plains gave them, the hot, dry summers and the long, harsh winters are still a far cry from the warm, lush environment that they have evolved in, that still lives in their collective memory, and that they still long to return to. Please help us turn this once in a lifetime opportunity into a reality.
Thank you!
